Op-ed: Choose NIT, Then Go Vote

Every year I write a letter to the editor at the Globe Gazette encouraging people to support a particular candidate for President, Congress, or for city council.  This year I am changing things up a bit.  Instead of sending this into the Globe, I am posting it on NorthIowaToday.com.

In addition, my only endorsement this year will be in supporting North Iowa Today.  Matt Marquardt and his staff work around the clock to bring you all news that other outlets tend to ignore.  Click the banner at the top of the page and subscribe for a full membership.

The reason I am doing this is because the state of our nation seems pretty clear.  You either want a fresh start or more of the same.  That decision is yours.

The greatest impact you can have on your community is by staying informed of local politics, by telling a friend or neighbor, and by taking that knowledge with you to the voting booth.  NIT has made doing this a lot easier, by providing more and more accurate information than the other guys.  If you want to keep seeing Mason City through your rose-colored glasses, keep doling out $245 each year for that fish wrap.  I will stick to getting my information for just $2 per month.

In the meantime, polls are open at the Cerro Gordo County Courthouse from now through Election Day.  Walk in the front door, turn right, and cast your ballot at the County Auditor’s office.  Seriously, it takes less than five minutes.

CONFUSED…If your have to wonder which road to take, then you really are!!

I think I will vote for the party that will not tell a woman what she has to do with her body. That seems like real freedom.

Congratulations! You’re no longer confused! (And welcome to the fold.)

I think he trying to stay in the middle of the road and to tell people to get informed and then vote intelligently. Either vote for more socialism and a reduction in your personal rights or go the other way and vote for freedom and the chance to improve your life through a little work which will be available. I like to tell people that when I was a child, which was a while ago, no one and I mean no one would tell a soul if they had to go on unemployment and there was no food stamps to lean on. It was a insult to your manhood to be on “welfare” and family’s took care of each other. Times have sure changed to the point where people are proud of getting “free” money and not working. I liked the old way better.

I’m with you, LVS. Add “disability” to your list of government (taxpayer) handouts. Do some need it? Sure.
WAY too many able bodied workers living off the rest of us, however.

Where is the fresh start and where is the more of the same? I think that is the core source of confusion.
