DES MOINES – The number of fatalities on Iowa’s roads is near a 5-year low, according to stats released by the Iowa Department of Transportation.
The Iowa DOT released updates traffic fatality statistics today, and says 318 people lost their lives in 2015 on Iowa roadways. That is three less traffic deaths than in 2014 and just one more than in 2013.
The last three years are a significant decrease from the previous three years of 2010-2012, when 384 (2010), 355 (2011) and 359 (2012) people were killed in auto accidents on Iowa roads.
August of 2015 was the deadliest month of the year, when 50 people died.
Seat belt usage showed 119 fatalities with belt used, 104 without belt, 16 unknown and 79 not applicable (Motorcycle, Pedestrian, etc.).
looks like you are more likely to die if you wear the government seat belt. Right? That’s how some would figure it? You know, kind of like a 3% increase in spending is a cut (if you were hoping for 6%.) Government accounting
