Katherine “Kathy” Ann Bohl, 91, of Mason City, IA, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, under the care of MercyOne North Iowa Hospice at the Rockwell Community Nursing home. Funeral arrangements are with Fullerton Funeral Home.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 12, 2026, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 2nd St SE, Mason City. A funeral service will be held the following day at 10:00 a.m. with a one-hour prior visitation, on Monday, April 13, 2026, at the funeral home. Following the service, Kathy will be laid to rest at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. In expression of sympathy, memorials may be made to the Newman Catholic School.
Kathy was born January 8, 1935, in Mason City to Alex and Anna (Krivohlavy) Kiroff. She was one of 13 children. She was very proud to share a birthday with “The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll,” Elvis Presley, whose music she loved. On February 20, 1960, Kathy was united in marriage to Marvin Bohl, and to their union, three children were born: Terry, Jeffrey, and Brian. Kathy worked as a housekeeper for 23 years at MercyOne North Iowa Hospital until her retirement in 1996. She was a loving mother, and while her boys were growing up, she often made “panecakes” and “smashed potatoes” at their request. Kathy was a den mother for Cub Scouts. She enjoyed crocheting and would knit blankets, socks, or various Cabbage Patch dolls and bunnies. In her younger years, Kathy and her husband Marvin would often play cards with friends or participate in the Knights of Columbus bowling tournaments. Kathy will be remembered as a loving wife, mom, and grandma.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Marvin Bohl of Mason City; children: Terry (Mary) Bohl of Mason City, Jeffrey (Linda) Bohl of Dougherty and Brian (Shawn) Bohl of Mason City; grandchildren: Alex, Chris, Jennifer, Michael, Robin, Tracy, Chad, Brian Jr., Cody, Dalton and Aunna; 29 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Jim (Sharon) Kiroff; brother-in-law, Greg Bohl; sister-in-law, Shirley Ostercamp and many nieces, nephews and other family members.
She was reunited in heaven with her parents, Alex and Anna Kiroff; siblings: Marie Lance, Pete Kiroff, Steve Kiroff, Alex Kiroff, Frank Kiroff, Rose Lumley, Patty Kingson, Carl Kiroff, Johnnie Kiroff, Bobby Kiroff; brothers-in-law, Elmer “Ike” Bohl, Elvin “Snooks” Bohl, Darwin “Skip” Bohl; sister-in-law, Patricia “Patty” Paulson; and her two beloved dogs, Mia and Honey.
