Nyle K. Vargason, 87, of Hazleton, Iowa, died Thursday evening, March 5, 2026, at Grandview Health Care Center in Oelwein, Iowa.
Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Peace Lutheran Church in Oelwein with Rev. Jay Weideman officiating.
Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Monday, March 9, 2026, and for one hour before the service on Tuesday at Peace Lutheran Church in Oelwein.
Interment: Hazleton Fontana Cemetery, Hazleton.
Military Honors by the Fairbank American Legion.

Nyle Kenyon Vargason was born February 5, 1939, in Oelwein, Iowa, the son of Bruce Burton & Neta Elizabeth (Deuhr) Vargason. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein. Nyle graduated from Randalia Consolidated High School in the class of 1956. He proudly served in the United States Navy overseas. Nyle was united in marriage to Burnadene JoAnn Schroeder on September 6, 1957, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fayette, Iowa. They made their home in Cedar Rapids where Nyle worked at Collins Radio for ten years. The family moved to Waterloo where Nyle sold communications equipment until his retirement in 2000. Nyle and Burnadene moved to Hazleton in 1999. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Oelwein and the Fairbank American Legion Fortsch-Duffy Post #552. Nyle enjoyed helping on his parents’ farm, golfing, cheering on the Chicago Cubs and the Iowa Hawkeyes and following his grandchildren’s activities. Nyle will be remembered for his strong opinions and that he was never wrong.

Deb Schroeder of Oelwein and many Nieces, Nephews & Cousins including a special Nephew: Leone Vargason.
Nyle was preceded in death by his parents; son: Mark; 2 brothers: Lorraine (Jeanne) and Dean (Faith); sister: Elaine Vargason; son-in-law: Dan Morrison; 3 brothers-in-law: Rollyn Schroeder, Duane Schroeder and Robert Bahe and nephew: Alan Bahe.
