SIOUX CENTER – Two Northern Iowa men were nabbed after one of them put the other’s Hyundai Sonata in a ditch and abandoned the car due to persistent cops unraveling the mystery.

On Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 10:08 PM, the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office arrested Everett Grey Fedders, age 20, of Sioux Center, Iowa, and Griffin Dean Gesche, age 21, of Estherville, Iowa.

The arrests stemmed from a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Harrison Avenue near 430th Street, approximately two miles southeast of Sioux Center, Iowa.

Fedders was driving a 2009 Hyundai Sonata southbound on Harrison Avenue, when he lost control of the vehicle, entered the ditch and rolled. When deputies arrived on scene, they located the vehicle unoccupied.

Upon further investigation, deputies determined that Fedders had a revoked driver’s license status and was in possession of alcohol. Deputies also determined that the owner of the vehicle, Gesche, knew of Fedders’ revoked license status and allowed him to operate the vehicle.

Fedders and Gesche were arrested and transported to the Sioux County Jail. Fedders was charged with Driving while Revoked (a serious misdemeanor), Possession of Alcohol under the Legal Age, and Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident (simple misdemeanors). Fedders was also issued a citation for Failure to Maintain Control. Gesche was charged with Allowing an Unauthorized Person to Drive (a simple misdemeanor).

No injuries were reported. The Hyundai sustained approximately $5,000 in damage.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Sioux Center Police Department.
