Robert Gene Dishman was born on March 28, 1949, to Marvin and Hazel (Holt) Dishman, in Mexico, Missouri. He was raised and educated in Mexico, Missouri graduating with the “Class of 1967”. After high school he joined the United States Navy, serving on a submarine during Vietnam from 1967 to 1971.
On September 1st, 1974, Bob was united in marriage with Dianna O’Bannon. The couple started their family in Mexico, Missouri, they had one child, Josh, and several foster children.
Bob worked as a brick skidder at the National Brick Refinery for nearly 20 years. He found Jesus and was saved, driving him to attend the Central Christian College of the Bible, where he became a Minister. He served several congregations in Missouri, Arkansas, Illinois and Iowa. His last call to serve was at the Park Church of Christ in Goldfield, Iowa, where he served until it closed. He was currently a bus driver for the Eagle Grove Community School District which he took great pride in doing.
Bob was a 2nd generation carpenter and enjoyed building many things including his detached garage. He enjoyed golfing and was a supporter of the Military honoring those who served by donating to the Wounded Warrior Project and other missions faithfully. Bob loved Jesus and all things with the Bible and enjoyed sharing with anyone.
Bob passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at his home, at the age of 76 years. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 Years, Dianna; parents; brother, Don Dishman; and sister, Janet Dishman.
Survivors include his son, Josh (Lolly) Dishman; grandchildren: Branden and Isabelle; and brother, Larry Dishman.
Memorials will be left to the discretion of the family.
