WASHINGTON, D.C. – Democrats are furious as a bill that requires voters to show ID is advancing through Congress.
The Save Act has officially passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 218-213. Every Republican voted in favor and they brought just one Democrat (Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas) along. All the other Democrats voted against it.
The SAVE ACT is referred to by Democrats as “Jim Crow 2.0”. They apparently believe that “poor” folks or persons of color are too dumb and lazy to obtain an ID for voting, even though ID is required in countless areas of life. Examples include driving a car, opening a bank account, air travel, and getting a job.
CNN reported that American overwhelmingly support the SAVE Act and requiring citizens to show ID when voting (see graphic at right.)
The SAVE Act (which was also passed the House in similar format in 2024, 221 – 198) would require Americans to show ID when voting; Require proof of US citizenship to register to vote; and end mail in ballots (except for illness, disability, and military or travel); and mail-in ballots would be required to have a copy of a photo ID. The bill would require states to purge non-citizens from voter rolls. It also imposes criminal penalties for election officials who register voters lacking proper documentation.
The bill, which is championed by President Trump and others who claim elections are now “rigged” due to illegal ballots being cast, nows heads to the Senate, where passage could be rocky. Iowa Senator Joni Ernst has signed on as a co-sponsor of the bill, she announced Wednesday.

Sorry ladies, your birth certificate won’t work as proof of citizenship if you have your husband’s last name.
