POCAHONTAS, IOWA – This Northern Iowa woman moved herself several states away after she allegedly was stealing from her old employer, but the long, icy arm of the law is not easily evaded.
On December 24, 2025, the Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a local business to report that one of their employees had been fraudulently stealing money from them via payroll. It was reported that these actions may have been occurring for over a year before being discovered.
An investigation was conducted into the matter by the Pocahontas County Sheriffs Office. After the investigation, 35-year-old Cassandra Weaver of Cleveland, Tennessee, formerly of Pocahontas, Iowa, was charged with the following crimes:
- Ongoing Criminal Conduct — Class B Felony

1st Degree Fraudulent Practices — Class C Felony

1st Degree Theft — Class C Felony

2nd Degree Theft — Class D Felony
The Pocahontas County Sheriffs Office worked with Tennessee authorities to coordinate the arrest of Cassandra Weaver.
On January 12, 2026, Weaver (pictured at top, from their jail) was placed into custody in Tennessee and is awaiting extradition back to Iowa to face justice.
