Linda, the daughter of Arlo James Young and Anita Mary (Johnson) Young, was born on October 8, 1944, in Charles City. She graduated from Immaculate Conception Catholic School in 1962. Linda met the love of her life, Duane Hansen, in 1961 at her family’s local skating rink, where they shared countless cherished memories. The couple married in 1963. Linda and Duane’s marriage was a true testament to love, faith, and commitment. For 62 years, they stood side by side through life’s joys and challenges, creating a partnership rooted in devotion and respect. Their bond became a shining example for three generations—a legacy of what it means to love unconditionally, support one another, and build a life centered on family and faith.

In July 1964, they welcomed their first child, James Anthony Hansen, loving and hardworking son who brought energy and joy to their lives. The following year, they were blessed with their second son, Gary Duane Hansen. Gary faced life with courage and grace as a child with special needs, and his presence brought a deeper sense of compassion and strength to the family. Though Gary later passed away, his memory remained a cherished part of Linda’s heart and home. In 1968, their beloved daughter, Teresa Ann Hansen, a spirited spitfire full of determination and warmth, completed their family, bringing laughter and vibrancy that filled their lives. Each child held a unique and irreplaceable place in Linda’s heart, and she treasured the bond she shared with each of them.

Linda was a kind and selfless soul who poured her love into everyone around her—her family and the many patrons she served over the years. She had a gift for making people feel special and cared for, whether through a warm smile, a listening ear, a home-cooked meal, or special candy hidden in her coat pocket. Her family was her greatest joy, and she devoted herself to creating moments that would be treasured for generations. Summers were filled with laughter during outdoor grill-outs, special mornings with cozy coffee gatherings, where stories were shared, and bonds were strengthened. Holidays were magical under her care, where she enjoyed the many games played as a family.

Linda and Duane shared a passion for the Green Bay Packers, turning game days into celebrations filled with good food, music, friendly banter, and the company of fellow fans. Their enthusiasm even took them to an in-person game—a memory they cherished deeply. Beyond football, Linda loved simple pleasures: tending to her home, going to grandkids’ activities, and watching her family grow. Her presence was the heart of every gathering, and her love was the thread that held everyone together.

Linda’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She lived each day guided by her strong Catholic beliefs and instilled those values in her children and grandchildren. Her devotion to prayer and her unwavering trust in God were evident in the way she loved, forgave, and cared for others. She was a true example of grace and faith for her family and all who knew her.

Linda is survived by her husband, Duane Hansen of Charles City; two children: Jim (Lori) Hansen of Nashua and Teresa (Dennie) VanHauen of Charles City; four granddaughters: Tessa Weber of Charles City, Jessica (Brandon) Mahnesmith-Rippentrop of Charles City, Desirae (Dalton) Reddel of Charles City, and Shantel (Aaron) Maloy of Waverly; and ten great-grandchildren: Owen Weber, Talan Weber, Cooper Mahnesmith, Lincoln Mahnesmith, Dean Reddel, Viola Reddel, Lenora Rippentrop, Liam Maloy, Waylon Reddel, and Emerley Maloy.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Bob Young; her son, Gary Hansen; her mother- and father-in-law; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
