Northern Iowa woman struck and killed by passing motorist as she attended to stalled vehicle

PALO ALTO COUNTY, IOWA - A Northern Iowa woman was tragically killed when a passing motorist struck her as she worked on a stalled vehicle at the side of a road.

PALO ALTO COUNTY, IOWA – A Northern Iowa woman was tragically killed when a passing motorist struck her as she worked on a stalled vehicle at the side of a road.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the incident took place on Friday, November 21, 2925, in rural Palo Alto County.  At about 5:20 PM that evening, west of the 440th Street and 470th Avenue intersection, a Ram 1500 pickup driven by 21-year-old Austin Ray Stokes of Mallard, Iowa, was traveling east on 440th Street, and approached two vehicles that, according to the Iowa  State Patrol, were parked int he travel portion of the road, and people involved with those vehicles were outside, nearby.  The Ram struck a 2006 Infinity M45 and then a 2008 Chrysler minivan was hit.

As a result of the collision, 35-year-old Jamee Lynn Weber of West Bend, Iowa, was struck.  She was taken to Palo Alto County hospital by ambulance, but passed away from her injuries.  Her obituary states that she was “helping jumpstart a vehicle” at the time of her death.

Also hurt was Stokes, 64-year-old Carol Harding and 35-year-old Tyler Joseph Weber; all were hospitalized.
