Northern Iowa felon pretends to be drunk in a ditch, cops not fooled

ELGIN, IOWA – This convicted Northern Iowa domestic abuser and felony drug offender was found faking intoxication in a ditch, and cops made the required arrest.

On August 18, 2025, at approximately 5:30 AM, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took a report of individuals laying in the ditch in the 7,000 Block of Golden Road at Elgin, Iowa.  Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area and located 1 of the individuals.

After an investigation, 31-year-old Kalab Michael Barker of West Union, Iowa, was arrested for simulated public intoxication, a simple misdemeanor.

Barker was taken into custody and transported to Fayette County Jail, where he was held until initial appearance. Records show Barker plead guilty to the crime, and was ordered to pay Iowa courts $180.75.

Records show Barker is a convicted felony drug offender and a multi-convicted domestic abuser.
