MASON CITY – This Mason City man is accused by police of a series of crimes at a local residence, including burglary, then assault and child endangerment.
Mason City police tell NIT that on July 17, 2025, at 12:31 AM, officers were requested to 1034 Manor Drive in Mason City. Allegations of domestic abuse assault were reported against 25-year-old Ryan Dale Smuck. During the officers’ investigation, it was determined that a young child was present, and could have been seriously harmed by Smuck’s alleged behavior. Officers found probable cause to file charges for Domestic Assault and Child Endangerment. Smuck had left prior to police arrival.

Police applied for arrest warrants charging him with aggravated domestic abuse assault and child endangerment. Officers arrested him July 18 on a warrant for these charges.
Police also tell NIT that on April 8, 2025, at 12:38 AM, it was reported that Smuck had broken into 1034 Manor Dr. Smuck had left by the time officers arrived. Officers applied for a warrant for Smuck’s arrest for 3rd Degree Burglary. A summons to appear was issued by the court (to Smuck).
Smuck (pictured at top) was processed at the Cerro Gordo county jail at 6:22 AM on July 18 and soon released, pending future court appearances.
