MASON CITY – Thirty years ago, local news anchor Jodi Huisentruit vanished from a Mason City apartment parking lot, leaving only a few clues as to what might have happened to her, and even as the years pass, many have not forgotten.
Friday, June 27, 2025 marks 30 years since Long Prairie, Minn., native Jodi Huisentruit (pictured at top) left her Mason City, Iowa, apartment building headed to work at KIMT-TV, now based in Minnesota. But she never made it to work — and was never seen again. Police found signs of a struggle outside her home at the Key Apartment building but, despite an exhaustive investigation, no evidence, tips or leads have led to her abductor.
Over the years, Mason City police and other agencies have sworn to keep investigating the disappearance, and countless others have dedicated time and effort into solving the mystery.
There’s a $50,000 reward for information and a new billboard campaign to draw attention to her case, according to officials in Minnesota.
