CHARLES CITY – A Charles City auto crash cost thousands in damages and a New Hampton woman a traffic ticket.

According to Charles City police, officers were called to investigate an auto collision at 11:50 AM on March 4, 2025. At the intersection of Highway 18 and Clark Street, officers discovered two parties involved. Police say a 2008 Saturn driven by 73-year-old David Watson of Charles City had been southbound on Highway 18 when a 2019 Chevy truck driven by 26-year-old Sarah Lund of Charles City was northbound on Highway 18, turning left onto Clark Street. However, she allegedly failed to yield on her turn, and the vehicles collided.

As a result of the crash, there was a total of $10,000 in damages, estimated by police. Lund was cited for failure to yield upon a left turn.

No one was hurt in the accident.
