Iowa DOT looking at possible changes to South Federal Avenue in Mason City

South Federal Avenue, southbound, in Mason City. Not exactly packed with cars much of the time.

MASON CITY – The Iowa DOT is looking at possible changes to South Federal Avenue in Mason City, just after North Federal was changed to a 3-lane road.

Will the state try to make South Federal a 3-lane road like they did on from North Federal?  That is the question some in town are wondering after the Iowa Department of Transportation announced a public meeting for a study on the matter.

The public is invited to attend a Public Information Meeting on September 12, 2019, between 5:00 and 6:30 p.m. at the Mason City Library, 225 2nd St. SE., in Mason City. The proposed feasibility study on U.S. 65 from 0.1 mile South of 27th St. SW to 6th St. S in Mason City in Cerro Gordo County will be displayed and discussed.

Details of the proposed study will be discussed at the meeting. Iowa DOT staff will be present to discuss the study informally. Interested individuals are encouraged to attend to express their views and ask questions about the proposed study.

The meeting room is accessible for persons with disabilities.

South federal is just fine.

…I personally like the idea, unfortunately many MC drivers think the middle lane is for “passing” everyone else on the road, when in fact the middle lane is to ease cars making turns off the line of travel!

The road in the photo looks like it would be a good place to ride minibikes. Oh my…

Im not an engineer, so how has North Federal traffic been improved? I’m not convinced that it has.

Suicide lanes on the fly. Cheap fix. Legalize cannabis and fix them roads properly. $$$

Better Idea is JAIL all pot users

What? Lock the kids up you say. California just said it’s Ok to use medical cannabis on K-12 campuses. Whoa, DARE ain’t gunna like that. For older people suffering from the nagging pain of the joints. You’ll have to wait until the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT regulates it. It’s superior to all other remedies out there. Cannabis Salve is the best!

But not people who drink alcohol? please explain to us your reasoning or whatever you wanna call it. It seems you may either be trolling or youre just willfully ignorant and doing your best to hold on to out of date propaganda about something the majority of the people understand and see no issue with. really you need to grow up. try reading something not written by radical church goers in the thirty’s. Should colorado be attempting to jail everyone who bought their legal weed and pumped over a million dollars into their schools in less than a year? i wonder what positive contributions alcoholics have made to society recently……. oh. its none!

I’d like to answer your question, “what positive contributions alcoholics have made to society recently……” . Alcoholics that drive drunk and kill themselves, before they kill others, is somewhat positive, isn’t it.
