Daisy Bentrott, 86, of Hampton, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton under the care of Care Initiatives Hospice. No local services will be held. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Oakdale Memorial Gardens in Davenport. Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory of Hampton is caring for Daisy and her family.
Daisy Alma Bentrott was born early Christmas morning in 1938 in Muscatine, Iowa, daughter of Henry and Alma (Stoelk) Dohrmund. She graduated from Wilton High School, class of 1957. On January 18, 1959, Daisy was united in marriage to Allen Dean Bentrott at the Wilton Zion Lutheran Church. To this union, four children were born.
Daisy dedicated a decade to providing daycare for families in Tipton before transitioning to a dietary aide position at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton after moving there in 1980. Five years later, the couple relocated to Durant where she assisted Allen with the star mail route. Following their retirement in 2001, they moved back to Hampton.
Daisy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hampton and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed playing cards and Bingo at the Hampton Senior Center, as well as reading and attending her grandchildrens’ sporting events.
Daisy is survived by her children: Mary (Jim) Haugen of Dows, Dean (Connie) Bentrott of Ames and Donna (Donald) Viet of Hampton; son-in-law Kenneth Geary of Tipton; grandchildren: Julie (Jake) Keppy, Jamie (Paul) Nahnsen, Amiee (Josh) Wainwright, Alicia (Paul) McDermott, Nicole (Jarad) Reddoor, Chadwick (Brittney) Geary, Alicia (Devan) Hanson, Meagan (Cody) Sorensen, Mackenzie (Thomas) Nystrup, Hannah Bentrott (Brandon Tjepkes), Ethan (Jessica) Viet and Carlee (Tanner) Bohman; 23 great-grandchildren with two more on the way; brother Donald (Darlene) Dohrmund of Pleasant Prairie; sister-in-law Elgeva (Harold) Petersen of Durant; along with nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Allen Dean Bentrott; daughter, Beth Adel Geary; great-granddaughter, Alexis Dean Rudkin; and mother- and father-in-law Herman and Hertha Bentrott.
