OBIT: Lance Charles Herink

Lance Charles Herink was born November 12, 1972, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Larry and Vickie (Sienknecht) Herink. His early years were spent living at Union Grove Lake outside of Garwin, Iowa, until the family moved to Lincoln, Iowa, in 1979. Lance attended elementary school in Gladbrook and graduated from Gladbrook-Reinbeck High School in 1991. He then went on to study at Iowa State University and Buena Vista University. He had spent more than 25 years in Iowa Falls, Iowa. Lance had a love for outdoors, gardening, plants, and fishing. He loved hunting for rocks and artifacts down by the river near his home outside of Iowa Falls. He most recently worked with a contractor until he was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma in January 2024. He lost his battle to cancer on October 1, 2024 in Iowa City.

He is survived by his parents, Larry and Vickie Herink of Lincoln, Iowa; sister, Heidi (Jed) Bergen of Sutton, Nebraska; nephews Wyatt (Naudia) Bergen and Jesse Bergen of Wayne, Nebraska; significant other, Vettre Readout of Iowa Falls, Iowa and his furry companions, Emmy and Kiya, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is proceeded in death by his grandparents: Leon and Mary Lou Sienknecht and Chuck and Marie Herink.

Graveside services are scheduled for Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 10:30 am at Maple Hill Cemetery, Gladbrook, Iowa.
