MASON CITY – A Mason City woman with a history of driving drunk was allegedly back at it again, this time broadsiding a Minnesota driver and putting them both in a hospital.

On Friday, September 6, at about 6:56 PM, Cerro Gordo county deputies were dispatched to a two-vehicle accident with injuries at 300th Street (County Road B20) and Killdeer Avenue.

An investigation at the scene determined that Hillary Ann Marie Hermen, 38, of Mason City, was driving a 2012 Dodge Ram truck, northbound on Killdeer. The intersection has a stop sign for northbound traffic. Hermen entered the roadway of 300th Street, which does not have a stop sign for east and west traffic, in front of a 2013 Toyota Camry driving westbound on 300th Street. The Camry, driven by Izabela Petar Pavlicek, 27, of Albert Lea, could not avoid Hermen’s vehicle and struck it broadside. Pavlicek and her passenger, Ashley Kay Hoist, 32, of Albert Lea both received non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the accident. Hermen was not injured.

Both vehicles are a total loss.

Hermen was arrested at the scene, evaluated at Mercy One North Iowa, and transported to the Cerro Gordo County jail.

Hermen is charged with OWI 2nd offense and fail to yield the right of way.

Pavlicek and Hoist were transported by private vehicle to a hospital in Albert Lea for treatment.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by Clear Lake Fire Department and Clear Lake Fire Medics.
