CHARLES CITY – He was caught with meth and other illegal drugs in a traffic stop last month, and now this uninsured, barred Charles City driver has been arrested again after barreling through a stop sign.

On April 24, 2024, at 6:24 PM, officers with the Charles City police department conducted a traffic stop in the 1200 block of Fisher Street. After an investigation, 43-year-old Corey Lee Stigney of Charles City was arrested for driving while barred, driving with no insurance, no SR-22 insurance and failure to stop at a sign. He was taken to jail. Records show he entered not-guilty pleas, demanded a jury trial, and was quickly released.

Stigney, as NIT previously reported, was arrested at least twice in March for driving while barred. During one of those stops, cops allegedly discovered drug paraphernalia, controlled substances including meth, marijuana and a prescription medical that wasn’t his. He had been quickly released from custody. Records show he is awaiting a June 20, 2024 jury trial.
