Robert S. Mountain, 81, of Mason City, passed from this life on Monday, August 19, 2024, at Heritage Care and Rehabilitation Center. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., at Major Erickson Funeral Home.

Robert S. Mountain, 81, of Mason City, passed from this life on Monday, August 19, 2024, at Heritage Care and Rehabilitation Center. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N Pennsylvania Ave. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service time. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Violet Hill Cemetery Perry, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the Mason City All Vets Center.

Robert Stanley Mountain was born on June 19, 1943, in Mankato, Minnesota to parents Stanley Mountain and Evelyn (Stratton) Mountain. He was the third of 9 children.

Robert graduated from Welcome Memorial High School in Garden City, Minnesota in 1961.

Following graduation Robert worked for Honeywell in Minneapolis, Minnesota until being called to serve his county. He was drafted into the Army and was stationed in Frankfort, Germany.

Following his honorable discharge Robert worked as a manager for finance companies in Iowa and Minnesota.

Robert earned an Associates of Arts degree from NIACC in Mason City, Iowa.

In the early 1990’s Robert began his career as an over the road trucker. He retired in 2018.

As a member of Mason City VFW Robert enjoyed camaraderie with other Veterans .

Robert is survived by his brothers, Bill (Diane) Mountain of Eagle Lake, MN, Dave (Bev)

Mountain of Eau Claire, WI, Tom (Judy) Mountain of Mankato, MN, Jerry (Marsha) Mountain of Brooklyn Park, MN, John (Donna) Mountain of Waterloo, IA, sisters, Rita (Brad) Marks of Owatonna, MN, Patty Larue of Maple Grove, MN, and Janet (Jay) Kienholz of Vernon Center, MN. his stepson, Bret (Vicki) Fike of Glasgow, MO, three step grandchildren, and three step great grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Larry (Sandra) Huitt of Casa Grande, AZ, Gary (Surella) Huitt of Perry, IA, sister-in-law Barbara (John) Kastner of Yale, IA, and several nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty, and stepson Bart Fike.
