RURAL WEBSTER COUNTY – A tip led cops to a rural Northern Iowa homestead and after a warrant was granted, scores of neglected puppies were saved.
On July 29, 2024, a Webster County Sheriff’s Deputy was contacted by Webster County Animal Control in regards to a possible animal neglect case in Rural Webster County near Badger. This prompted an investigation by the Webster County Sheriff’s Office.
During the investigation, information was obtained that the property owner currently possessed around 25 dogs and puppies that were malnourished and not being seen by veterinarians. Two of the puppies were release by the owner and taken to a veterinarian by Animal Control. The puppies had a severe worm infection and were found to be very emaciated, underfed, and clinically unhealthy by the veterinarian. The veterinarian report showed the puppies’ body condition to be a 2 out of 9.
On August 8, 2024, the Webster County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at the residence with the assistance of Webster County Animal Control and the Iowa Animal Rescue League. During the search 29 adult dogs and puppies were seized and relocated.
This is an ongoing investigation with criminal charges pending.
