Grassley government shutdown: “I support President Trump” on $5 billion wall funding

Grassley

WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa released the following statement regarding the partial shutdown of the federal government due to a lapse in funding for certain departments and agencies.

“We shouldn’t have to choose between keeping the government open and protecting our national borders. There’s no question that dangerous individuals, from drug traffickers to violent criminals, attempt to cross the border illegally every day. I support President Trump’s request for $5 billion to fund border security. Additional wall on specific parts of the border like we’ve already seen in Yuma, El Paso and San Diego would go a long way in stopping those dangerous individuals from entering the country. Congress should fully fund the Department of Homeland Security to make security improvements on the border, including more strategic walling and fencing, but also with the proper personnel and 21st century technology needed to do the job. I hope Democrats come to the table and work with congressional Republicans and President Trump to arrive at a reasonable resolution. There’s no reason we can’t keep the government open and protect our nation’s borders.

“In the meantime, Iowans should know that most of the federal government remains open. The military continues to defend our national security. The postal service continues to function. Essential services during the holidays such as airport security will also continue. My office will work with the Administration to determine how the partial shutdown might affect Iowans, and I’ll keep working with my colleagues to come to a resolution as soon as possible.”

The Resnicks are worth almost $5B, all of it made off the backs of tens of thousands of illegals that they lured to our country, and fueled by trillions of gallons of water stolen from the American people.

The president should issue an executive order to seize their assets and use it to fund the wall. Even if struck down in the court system, the move would put medial focus on how hiring illegals is a crime against America.

We’ll see how you feel about him in the near future? He’s a politician….and more importantly a liar like the liar he looks up to! That ship is slowly sinking!

I suppose you think calling people “liar” is convincing. Guess what, it’s not. If Chuck Grassley actually does something to betray my trust, I will be up front with my criticism. It sounds like you don’t have any idea how bi-partisan well respected Grassley is in Congress?

The problem is Chuckie boy that the Democrats will come to the table, but all you want to give them is table scraps. No compromise, just agree with us and all will be cool. That is not how a government should operate.

Put down the pipe, find a moment of clarity, and admit that you prefer to sacrifice border security just to oppose President Donald Trump. Obstructionism is creativity to the uninspired.

The Democrats have always wanted border security. As a matter of fact, the Senate voted for better security in 2013 with bipartisan support. 68-32. Guess who voted nay? The House Republicans didn’t want to accept the Senate version and voted it down. Don’t blame the Democrats because they have often voted for a package only to have it shot down by the Republicans. The Republicans do not want to compromise. They want it their way or no way. Where do you think Trump got the term obstructionist that he loves to use?

Wrong, but Maxine (Einstein)Waters agrees with you. Democrats opposing the border wall are interested in the new voters pouring over the border, NOT border security.

Oh, i get it. You get to think for the Democrats because you’re a so smart Republican. If you talk with Democrats rather than play keyboard warrior with some, you might learn something. You are probably also retired with nothing better to do other than make irrelevant statement that you can’t and won’t defend. You find something factually wrong with what I posted?

Your assumptions about me..there’s a good reason why people don’t come to you for advice.

The Wall is coming, and when thousands and thousands of Illegals are stuck in Mexico instead of disbursing throughout the U.S…who do you think is going to ultimately lose those votes?

Mexico will most assuredly pay. The only thing you ‘get’ is 6 more years of President Donald Trump.

Once again, you avoid answering the question I asked. What is factually incorrect about what I said? Do you have anything to say about the Republicans voting down the border security measures in 2013? Or would you care to dispute the fact that Grassley voted against the proposal? Go drink another martini.

5 billion is a drop in the bucket compared to how much illegals cost tax payers in a year. Libs are too blinded by their hatred of Trump to see this.

If the illegal MEXICANS /CHINESE in America had to pay federal taxes like the rest of the US citizens they would in account be paying for the WALL. But the corrupt socialist democraps who crap on Americans and flaunt our laws and sovereignty – we say! your day of judgement is coming and if not in jail you will be hiding in your chosen treason state of Mexico – GO FOR IT SCUMBUM !

The wall will pay for itself the first year it is completed. We will be saving this money every year after. We spend way more that this supporting these people that enter illegally.
