
GARNER – Police in Garner investigated some serious alleged malfeasance and wrong-doing at the community’s Chamber of Commerce and its former director landed behind bars facing felonies.
Garner Police Chief Tim Dodge reported that the Garner Chamber of Commerce made a report with local law enforcement regarding missing funds.
Following an investigation by the Garner Police Department, Rebecca Olson was arrested and charged with the following crimes:
– Ongoing Criminal Conduct, a Class B Felony in violation of Iowa Code Section 706A
– Theft in the First Degree, a Class C Felony in violation of Iowa Code Section 714.2
– Unauthorized Use of a Credit Card (Over $10,000), a Class C Felony in violation of Iowa Code Section 715A.6
– Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree, an Aggravated Misdemeanor In violation of lowa Code Section 716
– Sales Tax Violation, a Serious Misdemeanor.
Rebecca Olson was the director of the Garner Chamber of Commerce between the dates of January 25, 2021, and April 4, 2024. She was jailed and soon released, pending future court appearances.
