Iowa man nabbed after allegedly attempting to record woman changing clothes

SIOUX CENTER – An Iowa man was arrested this week, accused of peeping tom activities after standing outside a woman’s bathroom window with a camera.

On Wednesday, May 15, at 1:02 PM, the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office arrested 58-year-old Darrel Nyhof of Sioux Center, Iowa. The arrest stemmed from a report that Nyhof was recording an adult female in a state of undress through a window of a residence on 390th Street east of Sioux Center. Upon further investigation, Nyhof admitted attempting to photographing the victim while she was in her bathroom.

Nyhof was transported to the Sioux County Jail where he was charged with invasion of privacy. Iowa code 709.21 Invasion of privacy — nudity covers this crime, which is an aggravated misdemeanor.

The incident remains under investigation.
