MASON CITY – A Mason City police officer who served over three decades in law enforcement is retiring today, the department announced today.
“Today is Sergeant Greg Scott’s last day of employment after 33 years with the MCPD,” according to the police department. “Greg started July 15, 1991, as a Patrol Officer and was promoted to Sergeant March 22, 1996. He served the citizens of Mason City in that capacity for 28 years.
“He will be missed by both his fellow employees and the people he so well served. Good luck on your next adventure Greg!”

The Mason City police department has continued to search for new officers to fill its ranks, with salaries for new officers in excess of $50,000 per year.
