Meth-toting Mason City couple flee cops on Harley motorcycle

MASON CITY – A Mason City couple find themselves behind bars tonight after their motorcycle ride and possible delivery of meth was interrupted by our local law enforcement.

The Cerro Gordo county sheriff’s office says that Friday morning, March 29 at about 8:39 AM, they attempted a traffic stop on a blue 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle at 300th Street and Orchid Avenue. They report that the driver, 32-year-old Jacob Shafer and his passenger, 33-year-old Lindsay Rogers, both of Mason City, were traveling North on Highway 65 when a sheriff’s deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but Shafer initially refused to stop. A short pursuit started and ended in Mason City, they say, when Shafer finally stopped the bike.

As a result of th stop and investigation, Shafer was charged with:

– 321.218(1) – Driving while license denied, susp, cancelled or revoked DUS

– 321A.32(1) – Driving While License Under Suspension (No SR22 on file)

– 321.20B – FAILURE TO PROVIDE PROOF OF FINANCIAL LIABILITY

– 321.174(1) – No Valid Drivers License

– 321.279(1)(A) – Eluding

Jacob Shafer

Rogers was charged with:

– 453B.12 – Fail to Affix Drug Tax Stamp – 7 Or More Grams

– 124.401(1)(b)(7) – Intent Manufacture/Deliver Meth Over 5g Und 5kg

Lindsay Rogers

The traffic stop remains under investigation, according to the sheriff’s office.  Both suspects appear to remain jailed as of Friday night, held on bond.
