CHICKASAW COUNTY, IOWA – An Iowa man walking along Highway 18 in Chickasaw county was struck and killed by a driver.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident happened at around 4:46 PM on US 18, west of Falcon Drive, in Fredericksburg, Iowa. Edmund Emerson, age 85 of Cedar Rapids, was driving a 1999 Toyota Camry eastbound on Highway 18 when he struck Jerome Leach, age 78 of Fredericksburg, who was walking in the roadway. Leach died at the scene.
The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the crash.
