OBIT: Dorothy Williams

Dorothy "Dode" E. Williams, 91, of Northwood passed away peacefully Monday, June 26, 2023 at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood. She attended school locally, graduating from Northwood High School.

Dorothy “Dode” E. Williams, 91, of Northwood passed away peacefully Monday, June 26, 2023 at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.

A Memorial service will be held 1:00 pm Friday, June 30, 2023 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 600 5th St, Kensett, IA 50448 with Rev. Linda Johnson-Prestholt officiating.

She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Bud at the Kensett Cemetery. The family will greet friends and relatives in a time of fellowship following the service at the church.

Dorothy was born July 10, 1931 in Mason City to Southwick N. and Marjory G. (Sweet) Larson. She was raised in the Northwood and Kensett area and was baptized and confirmed at Elk Creek Lutheran Church, rural Kensett. She attended school locally, graduating from Northwood High School.

On June 19, 1949, Dorothy married Burton K. (Bud) Williams at the Elk Creek Lutheran Church. Together, they farmed southwest of Northwood and raised their three daughters, Kristie, Marcia and Brenda. They were longtime members of Bethany Lutheran Church in Kensett, IA. Dorothy taught Sunday School, participated in Ladies Aid, and sang in the choir. She was an avid blood donor to the American Red Cross, proudly donating over ten gallons of blood.

She is survived by daughters Kristie K. Rabon of Nashville, TN, and Marcia G. (Denny) Goodale of Northwood, IA, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband “Bud; sisters, Marcella Hauge, Lorraine Kasik, Louise Haugebuk, Merle Statzer, and Norita Carrigan; brothers Duane and Norman Larson; and daughter Brenda A. Poppe.

In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to the Bethany Lutheran Church.
