SCOTT COUNTY, IOWA – Three people were killed in a head-on auto crash on an Iowa Interstate highway.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident took place on Friday, March 10, 2023. At about 11:15 PM that night at the 284 mile marker of Interstate 80 in Scott county, two vehicles collided head-on. A 2014 Volkswagon driven by 46-year-old Tameka D. Paney of Rock Island, Illinois and a 2014 Chevy driven by 29-year-old Andrea R. Smith of Davenport, Iowa, met in the eastbound lanes. Authorities say the direction of travel for each vehicle is unknown.
As a result of the collision, Paney was killed. Also killed were 34-year-old Jessica E. Carr of Fresno, California, and 23-year-old Brina Y. Anderson-Yoder of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Andrea R. Smith was injured and taken by ambulance to a hospital.
The accident remains under investigation.
