DUBUQUE – An Iowa pre-teen used Facebook to threaten to bring a gun to school, and after cops were notified, he was then sent to juvenile detention.

On December 17, 2021, at approximately 8:30 AM, a Washington Middle School student in Dubuque, Iowa, immediately notified school staff after viewing a social media message posted by another student threatening to bring a weapon to school. School resource officers and Washington Middle School staff promptly located the student who posted the message and determined no weapon was brought onto school property.

As a result of the threat, a 12-year-old male student was charged with threat of terrorism and sent to juvenile detention.
