HAMILTON COUNTY, IOWA – A Belmond man is dead after an auto crash in rural Hamilton county.

On October 15, 2021 at approximately 8:40 a.m. Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle traffic collision on 190th St 1/2 west of White Fox Road, north of Webster City. When law enforcement arrived they located a vehicle on its top and a deceased individual nearby in the ditch. Upon county arrival they requested Iowa State Patrol Assistance. It was determined the driver of the vehicle, a 2010 Dodge Avenger , was the deceased male at the scene.  It appears the driver lost control on the gravel surface and skidded into a cement culvert abutment in the ditch which  tore the driver’s side of the vehicle off. The driver who was intially seatbelted was pulled from the vehicle and ejected forward.  The vehicle remained wedged between the abutment and ditch slope.

The driver was identified as 29-year-old Jose Aleja Rodriguez Martinez of Belmond Iowa.

The crash remains under investigation.

Assisting along with the Iowa State Patrol and Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office were the Webster City Fire Dept, Webster City Police Department, Van Diest Ambulance, and Tolles Towing.
