MASON CITY – A Mason City couple was busted with illegal gun and meth during a Friday evening traffic stop.

At about 6:39 PM on Friday, August 20, 2021, a Cerro Gordo county deputy made a traffic stop near the intersection of 2nd Street NW and N Adams Ave in Mason City. During the stop, the deputy requested assistance from Mason City Police and K9 Kilo. K9 Kilo gave a positive alert for the odor of narcotics on the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was completed and methamphetamine and a firearm that had been reported stolen were found.

As a result of the investigation, the driver of the vehicle, Jacob Raymond Shafer, 30, of Mason City, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, trafficking stolen weapons, no tax stamp, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The passenger, Desarae Nichole Schwab, 28, of Mason City was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were transported to the Cerro Gordo County Jail.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Mason City Police Department.

  1. Them people that does drugs, sells drugs ect, they should be use for organ donations we know alot of good folks dont do no drugs, they are on wait list’s for a kidney a lung, what not.

If someone wont work and don’t want to, and are doing drugs, selling drugs, what not, it don’t make sense to lock them up when they got parts good people do need.

This will be a good thing for good people, it would be nice if our reps would make this happen. Life is to good to waste it on them does drugs and sells that evil.

    1. There is a problem with that. It was brought up when Niven wrote “The Jigsaw Man”.

After you run out of that specific criminal, who’s next, then who, eventually you run out of criminals all together, then who? Draw numbers lottery style.

Good intentions, but would be a VERY bad idea to get started.

    1. Iowa is a constitutional carry state…. If you’re not a felon. Pretty much anyone over 21 can carry and you’d be surprised how many ppl do so.
