Northwood man hurt in rural Mason City car crash

RURAL MASON CITY – A Northwood man was hurt in a rural Mason City car crash Monday morning.

On Monday, May 10, 2021, at approximately 7:55 AM, the Cerro Gordo county sheriff’s office received a report of an accident with injury at the intersection of Mallard Avenue and 300th Street just outside Mason City. A 2001 Chevrolet Blazer being driven by 22-year-old Anahi Romo of Northwood, Iowa was attempting to turn onto Mallard Avenue from 300th Street when the vehicle left the roadway. The vehicle entered the west ditch on Mallard Avenue and struck a private farm field fence. There was damage to the fence and the front of the vehicle Romo was operating. Romo was transported to Mercy One North Iowa by Mason City Fire Medics and is being treated for minor injuries.

The accident remains under investigation and charges from the accident are pending.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Mason City Fire Medics and Clear Lake Fire Rescue.
