JUCO Basketball: NIACC’s Robertson earns ICCAC player of week honor

MASON CITY – NIACC sophomore McKelary Robertson was selected as the ICCAC Division II men’s basketball player of the week for the week of March 1-7.

Robertson, a 6-0 guard from Woodbury, Minn., scored 56 points as the Trojans picked up conference wins last week over Ellsworth and Northeast CC
Robertson scored 24 points in a 61-58 win over Ellsworth and netted a career-high 32 points in a 70-67 road win at Northeast CC. He also grabbed five rebounds in both games.

Robertson is the first NIACC men’s basketball player to win the league’s POW honor since Quentin Hardrict won the award for the week of Feb. 3-9 of the 2019-20 season.

Robertson, who has scored at least 24 points in four straight games, averages 18.2 points per game, which ranks fifth in the ICCAC. He also had 36 3-point goals, which also ranks fifth in the conference.

NIACC (3-12 overall, 3-12 in the ICCAC) returns to action Wednesday at home against

heading into Wednesday’s home contest against Kirkwood. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
