MASON CITY – A Mason City man is facing charges and an investigation after a resident reported her Cadillac Escalade has been stolen from her garage.
Mason City police say that on Thursday, June 11 at approximately 9:10 AM, a resident reported a unknown subject stole a Cadillac Escalade from her garage. The victim had just arrived home and parked her SUV in the garage. A unknown suspect apparently entered the house and garage, took the keys, entered the Cadillac and fled as the owner tried to stop him.
At 9:19 AM, the Cadillac was found abandoned on Post Road Inside the Asbury neighborhood.
At 9:34, a employee of a turf care company reported a company truck had just been stolen from the nearby area of Birch Drive and Illinois Ave. The truck was parked in the area where the employee was working outside. The keys were apparently in the vehicle.
At 12:34 PM, the turf care truck was found abandoned in the 900 block of East State St. The investigation led to the arrest of Henry Stevenson, 953 East State Street, Mason City, IA. Items stolen from the victim(s) were recovered inside Stevenson’s residence. Stevenson was charged with one count of 5th Degree Theft (items recovered inside residence) and one count of Operation without Owner’s Consent. Stevenson was jailed.
The investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Mason City Police Department.

One count of fifth degree theft and one count of operating without owner’s consent? Is that the best they can do? He ALLEGEDLY entered someone’s home, stole two vehicles and personal belongings. Wouldn’t that be a fairly easy case for at least two felonies? Wow.
