CHICKASAW COUNTY – A Mason City state trooper was hurt in an auto accident in Chickasaw county Friday afternoon.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident took place Friday, May 22, 2020 at 12:50 PM on US Highway 63 in Chickasaw county, south of 150th Street. Iowa state trooper Shawn Wuchter of Mason City was northbound on Highway 63 in his 2017 Dodge Charge following a 2015 Kia Optima driven by 23-year-old Riley Maas of Ottumwa, Iowa. Maas began to perform a u-turn as Wuchter initiated a traffic stop. As a result, Wuchter’s Charger struck the Kia broadside into the driver side door.

Both men were taken to area hospitals for treatment for undisclosed injuries. The crash is under investigation.

Assisting the Iowa State Patrol were the New Hampton Fire Department and the Chickasaw County Sheriff.

  1. Hmmm, I see the midnight Nazi is at work deleting posts again. One would think that if he is so dedicated to preserving truth, justice and the American way, he would have at least answered some of the questions I posed to him. Oh well, it is nice to see that megalomania is alive and well in Mason City. But then again, he probably doesn’t have a whole lot of time on his hands with dropping his mother off at good shepherd to earn her ten dollars. Let us hope that he is a good enough son that he does not charge her gas money.

    1. Why are you so afraid of people speaking their mind and voicing their opinion? Who made you god over this site, and remember, just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean it’s wrong. Hitler didn’t like the Jews, so he gassed them. You don’t like what was written here, so you deleted it. Hmmm, do you sense a pattern here. And Matt, are you going to let some biased Nazi tell you what you can have on your web site? I certainly hope not.

    1. Don’t judge everyone by yourself. When a law enforcement person dies/gets killed, I raise my glass and said “Thank God”.

        1. Not hardly, my mother has been dead for 20 years. Another one of your uncalled for comments. You should be banned from this site.

        2. And you claimed I was exposing myself outside of good shepherd when you had no proof it was true. Look up libel in the dictionary. Then look in the mirror. “Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones”.
P.S. Tell your mom “Hi” for me.

    1. Obviously? Hardly. The trooper initiated a traffic stop. “Obviously” Mr. Maas was attempting to elude Trooper Wuchter and the traffic stop.

        1. I like how this one says that the Trooper hit the Kia. The KIMT article says that Maas hit the Trooper. Hmmmm.

          1. Unless you were there and saw it happen, you will never know the truth. It was probably covid related.
