CHARLES CITY – A collision with a Charles City utility pole disrupted power in that community and placed an Iowa man under police investigation.

The incident took place on April 22 at about 3:38 AM, according to Charles City police.  Officers took a report of a collision in the 900 block of E Street in which a 2000 Jeep registered to Joshua Neal of Lamoni, Iowa, was allegedly traveling north on E Street, lost control of his vehicle for an unknown reason and struck a utility pole, causing it to break in half.  Police say this caused a power outage to most of the northeast side of town.

Police found the vehicle with no driver.  The vehicle was impounded and police say the matter is under investigation.
