Ventura man faces felony drunk driving charge after police call

MASON CITY – A caller phoned in a possible dangerous drunk driver, leading to the arrest and a felony charge against a North Iowa man.

A driver was traveling east toward Mason City from Clear Lake at around 1:30 AM January 1, 2019, behind another vehicle. As they approached Mason City, the trailing driver called police on the vehicle in front for possible erratic driving. A Mason City police officer happened to be right in the area and immediately found the vehicle, Chief Jeff Brinkley tells NIT. Based on the officer’s observations, 33-year-old Nathan Charles Glidden of Ventura was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated, 3rd or Subsequent Offense – a felony.

Glidden was taken to and remains held at the Cerro Gordo County Jail, awaiting further court proceedings. He was charged with felony drunk driving by Clear Lake police back in 2013, but pled guilty to second-offense drunk driving instead. He paid over $10,000 in fines and court fees.

As I accelerated a copper wire was stabbing me between toes so I was trying to dislodge it with my hand and theres a rough section on that road that bounces my truck side ways. First owi was a failed suicide attempt. Obviously failed. 2nd cops got me out of moms house where I had been drinking for 10 mins already. Dont forget we had a CLPD cop fired for lying and he gifted me some charges. Phone use should be an owi. 3 traffic violations in a yr should be a felony. Have a peachy wonderful life. Nt

Message for Nate: This is self-inflicted. If anybody else came into your life and caused so much misery, backsliding and stupidity on you, there would be no question, you would want to kill them. Holy shit…focus, you idiot.

Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son

To the driver that called police, thanks for getting involved, you possibly saved a life. It would be nice if more people got involved.
