How to Find Friends from Iowa When You’ve Lost Most of Their Contact Details

It’s difficult to stay in touch with people. Sometimes you drift apart, and you reminisce about the friendship and wish to get back with them. Other times, they move out of Iowa or just change some of their contact information and it’s difficult to reach them now.

Whatever the reason for needing to reach out to someone and not having all their information, what can you do about it?

Email Information – Old or Current?

Perhaps you have their email address, but you’re not sure if it’s even valid anymore. Perhaps they’ve moved companies, or their personal website is no longer live on the internet and you don’t know whether the email address associated with it still works. In any case, you’re best off using The Email Finder to confirm some good contact email information for them.

Check with the Neighbours

It’s always possible that they left a forwarding address with one of their neighbours and just forgot to tell you. Sometimes we have so much to do when preparing to relocate that we don’t remember to notify everyone that we should have. It happens. It’s best to just get over the silent insult and find a way to get back in touch again by checking with their neighbours.

Do You Know Their Friends?

When you want to reach a friend of a friend, you could try getting in touch with their friends for new contact information. At the worst, they can pass your contact information to your mutual friend and then you wait to see if your friend gets back in touch with you. It can never hurt to try. They’ll probably tell you that they’ve been meaning to give you a call, but life just kept getting in the way.

Facebook is Your Friend

You may have many friends on your personal Facebook account, but if your lost friend is not one of them then you’ll need to take advantage of Facebook’s search facility. When looking up your friend’s name, be sure to search for sensible variations. They may have themselves listed under an abbreviated first name (Dave instead of David) or used (or not) a middle name or initial for their profile information. It’s best to try all options and then carefully go through all the people found to see if they are a match.

Hiring a Private Investigator

Under certain circumstances, it may make sense to go to the additional step of hiring a private investigator. They will have access to additional resources and official contacts that can sometimes shake information loose about someone that’s not available on the internet or through people you know. Do bear in mind that often the results are not helpful, and yet there’s usually still a bill to be paid for their services regardless of the outcome.

Finding someone takes some time when you’ve lost touch. They could have moved several times and changed contact numbers more than once depending on the span of time that you’ve been out of touch. You also should consider other circumstances like they’re away traveling, they don’t wish to be contacted, or have sadly passed away for a sudden illness. It’s best to consider all possibilities and be prepared.
