MASON CITY – A wanted Mason City man wouldn’t go quietly once cops cornered him, leading to injuries to an officer.
Police tell NIT that 25-year-old Montez Javon Lamont Guise was at the probation office at 22 North Georgia Avenue in Mason City for a meeting on February 22. Guise was wanted on arrest warrants when he got there, and MCPD officers arrived to arrest him. However, Guise allegedly then tried to flee and resist arrest.
“Officers were able to arrest Guise eventually after he allegedly resisted arrest. One of the officers suffered some minor scrapes and abrasions while trying to subdue Guise,” a police spokesman said.
After Guise was searched, baggies and a glass pipe were allegedly found in Guise’s possession.
In addition to the warrants that were connected to no-contact order violations which occurred twice the previous day, Guise was charged with Interference with Official Acts with Injury and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
