Clear Lake man accused of felony burglary after police investigation

CLEAR LAKE – An investigation by Clear Lake police has led to the arrest of a local man on felony charges in connection to a burglary.

On July 13, 2016, Clear Lake officers were dispatched to the 200 block of 10th Avenue North on a burglary to a business. It was reported that an unknown person(s) had forced entry into the business, possibly during the overnight hours. The building sustained damage during the burglary and several items were taken.

On December 1, 2016, Richard Sigler, age 50 out of Clear Lake, was arrested and charged with Burglary 3rd, Attempted Burglary 3rd, and Possession of Burglary Tools.

During the course of the investigation, officers were able to obtain DNA evidence left by the suspect at the scene.

CLPD was assisted by the Iowa DCI Criminalistics Laboratory.
