MASON CITY – Mason City police officers stopped a man riding an ATV in the downtown area, who turned out to be in possession of the dangerous drug meth and a large sword.

The incident took place Saturday morning after 1:30 AM near 20 West State Street, when a Mason City police officer spotted a subject riding an ATV down the city street with no headlights on and then ride through Central Park. The driver apparently saw the officer coming to intercept and turned off the ATV and dismounted. The officer approached the driver who was identified as 33-year-old Lucas Heilskov.

During the investigation, Heilskov was also allegedly found in possession of suspected meth, marijuana, and a large sword. Heilskov was arrested for driving while barred, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and carrying a dangerous weapon.

Heilskov remains jailed and held on $9,000 bond as he awaits a court hearing later this week.

  1. Yes Jane we would like to make it clear we are of no direct relation to you either. This young man and his family are already going through a very difficult time and people we are related to help each other, not disown. I agree with the comment that maybe you need to change your name as you have no idea what family is about.

  2. Just want to say (to people who may know me) that Luke is NOT related to me. He was a distant relative of my late husband. It’s not a common name around here so wanted to make this clear.

  3. What’s this world coming too? You cant even ride your four wheeler through Central Park at 2 in the morning with your sword and a little bit of dope without the cops stopping to hassle you. jeez.

  4. Ah, the old “shut off the lights” trick. MCPD used to fall for it. Must have been covered that in the SWAT Tank training.

  5. This guy reaks. I had to sit next to him and he smelled like a dirty ashtray that was stuck in someone’s butt crack and sweat for 40 days straight. Every mug shot I see his face gets more creepy.

  6. Makes a good impression of Mason City for the upper crust visitors who are staying at The Historic Park inn Hotel.

    1. Yeah bet that was a sight for those city tours they give. “and here is Mason City local enjoying his ATV sword carrying stroll through Central Park!”
