Police stop man cruising through Central Park on ATV with meth and large sword

MASON CITY – Mason City police officers stopped a man riding an ATV in the downtown area, who turned out to be in possession of the dangerous drug meth and a large sword.

The incident took place Saturday morning after 1:30 AM near 20 West State Street, when a Mason City police officer spotted a subject riding an ATV down the city street with no headlights on and then ride through Central Park. The driver apparently saw the officer coming to intercept and turned off the ATV and dismounted. The officer approached the driver who was identified as 33-year-old Lucas Heilskov.

During the investigation, Heilskov was also allegedly found in possession of suspected meth, marijuana, and a large sword. Heilskov was arrested for driving while barred, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and carrying a dangerous weapon.

Heilskov remains jailed and held on $9,000 bond as he awaits a court hearing later this week.
