MASON CITY – A hit and run accident early Saturday left a family with one less car and reward is being offered in the hopes of catching the offender.
Heather Trainer is the owner of the silver 2001 Pontiac Grand Am – or what is left of it. She tells NIT that the car was parked out in front a home at 416 15th Street SE when, sometime between midnight and 6:00 AM, a vehicle with an unknown driver smashed into the rear driver’s side of her car, causing severe damage. Her daughter had driven the car to a friend’s house and parked out front.
The only clue so far is paint left on the Grand Am.
“There is white paint on my daughter’s car so police think it’s a white vehicle that hit it,” Heather said Saturday. She also says that police believe the offending vehicle is a car “because the damage is low” on the Grand Am.
“It would most likely be right front end damage,” she explained.
Heather says there is a reward for information on this hit and run accident. If anyone happens to have any information pertaining to this accident, call Mason City police at 641-421-3636.
This happened to a friend if mine about 10 years ago. Part of the the car that hit the parked car was left. They found the vehicle but never brought charges because the owner simply said it wasnt me. Even though he parked back at his apartment complex. It was very frustrating. Good Luck.
Any bets that alcohol was involved. Somebody knows who this hit and run driver is, hopefully they will come forward. I would, for free…
Some drunk driver hit it and is on the run. You better believe they are SCARED!
Nothing good happens after midnight. I will be on the lookout for a white car.
