Chamber of Commerce has run Mason City into the ground. No jobs or low wage jobs. The smart capable people are leaving or have left by now.

Not real sure you’re placing blame here where it actually belongs. There have been job prospects brought to the table, but Mason City’s usual band of loud mouth curmudgeons and the alternative ‘news’ organization have chased them away with their child like tantrums at city council meetings.
Since you said, city road crews, I’m going to assume it’s in a cities limits. It’s one of those things that if it doesn’t get reported, because it’s bothering somebody, it’s going to lay there until it returns to dust. Now, if it’s outside city limits, county road crews don’t normally pick up small road kills, as they don’t usually pose a traffic hazard. The crows and vultures and other carnivorous creatures usually take care of it. There’s nothing like the faint smell of a dead skunk…
How long can a dead skunk lay in the road before it disappears? It’s been at least three weeks and if you look close you can see some of the skunk colored fur over a pancake like body. and there is a trail of old blood and guts about 100 yards long extending. I’m sure it’s been run over thousands of times due to the location which is on a heavily traveled road. I go by it almost daily. I don’t want to say where because the city road crews would be forced to get off their asses and clean it up which would negate my question-how long will it lay there? The first day it didn’t even stink but by the second and third in the hot sun it was stinking to high heaven. This lasted for several days. Now there’s only the body and the long trail smeared on the road. I’m guessing it will last till snow returns and the plows clean it up. I wouldn’t want to clean it up either.

i believe the state law says it is legal to possess fireworks and they can be sold if a license is obtained. As for the locals, they have to abide by the laws or the city/county where they live. In other words, it is local control. That is something Republicans have been using as a battle cry for years. Now, when it goes against something they want, they cry foul. Yep we already know the events we will get – same ones we already get at North Iowa Events Center. As far as bands, you know that one too, same ones that play at the Surf every year, we will be lucky to just to get that. Only 6 months worth of events, poop!

Globe Gazette published positions and salaries Tuesday 16th for MCCS. This news came out of an exempt meeting where no action items or decisions could be made? Who wants to embarrass the administration and board of MCCS?
All public salaries are published once a year–NIACC, County, City, etc. No reason to exempt MCCS.
Why aren’t all the state employee salaries published??? How about the probation/parole salaries? Beje Clark salaries?? Don’t they work for the state, too! Salaries for state employees are kept on a data base which you can access in the Des Moines Register. However, the date bases does not list information such as insurance but the cost of the insurance is more than $20 for the “family”. Please know your facts before you make affirmative statements. I just watched “Inherit the Wind” and the similarilties to present situations are frightening to those of us that believe in our democratic republic.
