MASON CITY – Two Thornton residents were nabbed by cops this week after they allegedly stole merchandise from the Kohls department store.

Mason City police and Cerro Gordo deputies arrived at Kohls department store, 556 Indianhead Drive, on Monday evening after 5:30. Officers and deputies began searching for a male and female suspects who fled the store. Soon thereafter, deputies apprehended the pair in a vehicle and placed them under arrest.

Taken to jail were 39-year-old Kevin Christopher Becker and Jill Ann Schwem, both of Thornton, on charges of theft in the third degree.  Becker posted $2,000 cash bond and was released.

Police said Thursday that the couple tried to steal two pairs of jeans valued at $106.00 total. “They did allegedly exit the store with merchandise concealed and without paying for both items,” police told NIT. “Theft charge was enhanced to 3rd Degree due to prior convictions.”

Schwem is convicted felon out of Black Hawk county on felony theft and also out of Cerro Gordo county for felony extortion.  She was also caught stealing in Franklin county and charged by Sheffield police on October 12.  She is awaiting a December 1 non-jury trial on a charge of fifth degree theft.

Becker has been accused of a number of felonies but always pled guilty to a lesser charge or the charge was dismissed, including burglary and drug dealing.  He was guilty this past August of using abusive language and epithets with disorderly conduct.  He was also charged earlier this month with reckless use of fire in a domestic dispute at his house in Thornton.  He is awaiting a hearing on November 20 in that case.

All of the criminals that live around Mason City know that when they go court they have about 5 chances of probation/suspended sentences before they go to prison. Hell they even get an attorney paid by us. Thank You to all of us fools for working. Man this shit makes me sick as I really hate these scum that suck and f**k the system to death. OH WELL thank You Bleeding Hearts.

Now that’s a pair to draw to. As soon as these two walk into any store, all eyes/cameras are on them.
