MASON CITY – A man who recently got off easy on a felony drug charge was chased on Monroe Avenue Sunday evening and arrested.

A Mason City police officer stopped a vehicle driven by 24-year-old Wayne Martell Davis for an improper brake light at the 000 block of North Monroe Avenue Sunday around 5:30 PM. Davis fled the scene on foot, and officers and deputies from the Cerro Gordo sheriff’s office were called in to search. Davis was eventually caught and arrested on charges of driving while barred and interference with official acts.

Davis was charged last year in Winnebago county with a felony marijuana charge, but this month, accepted a plea deal to a lesser charge of possession of marijuana. He was sentenced to 7 days in jail and ordered to pay $675.25 in fines and court fees.

    1. Interesting take. She’s before my time. Heard lots of stories, though. Seems to be a forerunner in the Scott Tornquist mold.
