WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Barack Obama welcomed the revelation from Pope Francis that climate change is caused at least partly by human actions and that it must be reversed.
President Obama released Thursday the following statement on the Pope’s “encyclical”, deemed “a rare and influential” statement:
“I welcome His Holiness Pope Francis’s encyclical, and deeply admire the Pope’s decision to make the case – clearly, powerfully, and with the full moral authority of his position – for action on global climate change. As Pope Francis so eloquently stated this morning, we have a profound responsibility to protect our children, and our children’s children, from the damaging impacts of climate change. I believe the United
States must be a leader in this effort, which is why I am committed to taking bold actions at home and abroad to cut carbon pollution, to increase clean energy and energy efficiency, to build resilience in vulnerable communities, and to encourage responsible stewardship of our natural resources. We must also protect the world’s poor, who have done the least to contribute to this looming crisis and stand to lose the most if we fail to avert it. I look forward to discussing these issues with Pope Francis when he visits the White House in September. And as we prepare for global climate negotiations in Paris this December, it is my hope that all world leaders–and all God’s children–will reflect on Pope Francis’s call to come together to care for our common home.”
I shouldn’t say ‘not supporting him’ because in the U.S. you don’t have to support the President. @Maybe. I agree the House and Senate could both be accused of treason especially the Republicans. Their continued determination to undermine the President at all costs is very much treason.
@ LVS do you know what TPP is? If not google it and you will see what I mean by treason. Both the house and senate gave obama complete power over all treaties bypassing congress, this is just a small part of what TPP is.

Isn’t that amazing. They just announced today that we are entering a Mini Ice Age due to the sun not putting out as much heat. It is jus amazing that nature finds a way to fix itself as it always has. The Pope needs to tend to his religion and stay out of politics and science.
Oh how convenient! Scientists announce today that we are entering a mini ice age and you are all over that! The republitards have been refuting the mountains of scientific evidence that shows humans are the cause of global warming, because their corporate overlords don’t want to reduce emissions. It might be free speech BUT you are giving comfort and aid by not supporting him.
we can put down the president all we want, 1st amendment rights but there are millions of witnesses for what congress and obama has done to convict them of treason.
Your definition of treason is way off, we DON’T have to support obama, thats what makes us a republic NOT a democracy.
