To the Editor: RAYHONS CASE

When is enough… enough?
Enough already! Stop!
Let this man grieve. I understand that the outcome of this perverted display could have lasting consequences in the future over similar circumstances. Give Mr. Rayhons the benefit of the doubt; as a civilized society there has to be a better way to solve this “nursing home” visits dilemma where one occupant is separated from their roommate by a flimsy piece of threadbare cloth that hangs between two beds and comes to an end three or four feet from the floor. Take this jury on a field trip to a nursing home where they can see for themselves how a room that brings in $6,000.00 a month is not conducive to intimacy.

It seems to me that the guy is maybe guilty of making poor choices, but a 3rd degree felony?
I will never agree with Peter’s spiteful rhetoric, but I agree that Donna Lou’s two daughters are using the law to humiliate Henry. They are getting international coverage of this case. I hope they are happy and I hope they lose.
From this spectacle, my wife of 50 years has informed me that she is calling her attorney and having her living will changed to read:
Under no circumstance do I want my husband charged with any kind of sexual crime should I end up without the ability to make choices of my own. If he or I want sex, regardless of our mental capacity it is none of anybody’s business.
Got to love that woman!
That really is awesome. Cool wife.
Nice pre-emptive strike against the legal Nazis!
I’ve totally changed my mind about this case. I was very much against what Mr. Rayhons had done (if he even did it), but now I’m thinking it may have been his wife who wanted the “affection” and closeness. If she didn’t know who Mr. Rayhons was, BUT DIDN’T STRUGGLE OR PROTEST, then I hope she enjoyed it and I hope she was fantasizing that it was Paul Newman.
So much for the sanctity of marriage. Interesting how Bible people pick and choose what parts become actionable offenses. Doesn’t the Bible basically protect a man and his wive(s)? So what if she’s demented, does that mean the State steps in and treats her as a rape victim? I agree with PC that the state of affairs in nursing homes needs revision. I said it before, this man probably wanted to be intimate with his wife one last time before she passed on.
You know nothing of what the bible says. And you know even less about the laws and rights of individuals in long term care.
I agree with Peter Children. How can this be?
No one knows what happened that night except him. The rest of it was wishful thinking on the part of the people who were out to get him politically. Leave the man alone. He lost his wife.
