Former Mason City man guilty of assault, then arrested again on warrant

MASON CITY – A man who lived in Mason City but claims to now live in Rochester was caught by police in the North End on an arrest warrant early Sunday.

Jason Shi Mar Keys, age 31, was stopped by law enforcement just after midnight Sunday at the 800 block of North Delaware Avenue. Keys was wanted in Floyd county for driving while barred. He gave police a Mason City home address but claims to live in Rochester.

Keys pleaded guilty on January 20, 2015 to a charge of assault causing injury, in connection to an arrest by Mason City police in August of 2014. He was sentenced to 11 days in jail and ordered to pay $2,102.28 in court costs and fees. He was also found guilty of contempt of court for skipping an earlier court date and given another 7 days in jail.

Keys been involved with crimes, records show, in several North Iowa counties, including, Wroth, Winnebago, Floyd, and felony burglary in Cerro Gordo.
